On 2 December 2022 the results of the annual Pravo-300 law firms’ ranking were announced at an awarding ceremony at The Carlton Hotel in Moscow. Lidings’ top position among the leading legal advisors in Russia once again reflected by the ranking results.

The Government approved amendments to the Decree No. 851 dated 11.05.2022, updating the list of legal entities of foreign states, in respect of which special economic measures are applied.

In October 2022, the European Commission approved the eighth package of sanctions against Russia. Among other restrictions it established a ban on the provision of legal services to Russian companies. A few weeks later, on October 24, the European Commission published answers to frequently asked questions including explanations as to what kind of legal services fall under the ban and whether the extension of sanctions to this sphere does not entail restrictions on the right to protection.

The President signed the Decree which introduces additional restrictions on transactions with persons from “unfriendly” states.

Pursuant to the Decree, which established a special procedure for transactions with shares of Russian LLC, on 19 September 2022 the Government adopted Resolution on the procedure for issuing permits for such transactions.

The President issued Decree No 618 dated 08 September 2022, which established additional restrictions on transactions involving foreign persons in relation to shares of Russian limited liability companies.

The Government of the Russian Federation has submitted to the Parliament bill providing for amendments to paragraph 3 of Article 453 of the Civil Code. According to the current wording, in the case of a change or termination of the contract by court, the obligations are considered changed or terminated from the moment the court decision on the change or termination of the contract enters into force.
