On 12 December 2023, the President of the Russian Federation signed Federal Law № 571-FZ to ratify the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Sultanate of Oman on the Elimination of Double Taxation in respect of Taxes on Income and Prevention of Avoidance and Evasion of Taxation and the Protocol thereto (hereinafter - the “Agreement”).

Subject to ratification of the Agreement by Oman and mutual notification of the parties of the ratification procedures by the end of 2023, the Agreement will enter into force as early as 1 January 2024.

On 1st January 2020, the Federal Law of 02.08.2019 № 265-FZ “On Amendments to the Federal Law” “On Currency Regulation and Currency Control” entered into force in terms of liberalization of restrictions on foreign exchange transactions that are made by residents using accounts (deposits) opened with banks located outside the territory of the Russian Federation and repatriation of funds.

According to Chapter 57 of the Federal law No. 289-FZ dated 03.08.2018 “On Customs Regulation in the Russian Federation and on amending certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation” (Law on customs regulation) a rightholder is entitled to file to the Customs Service an application for including their IP objects to the Customs Register seeking rights protection.

The Federal law No. 290 “On international companies” (hereinafter — the Law on international companies) and the Federal law No. “On special administrative districts” have come into effect on 3 August 2018. These laws adjusted procedure of redomiciliation and created special administrative districts on the islands Oktyabrskiy and Russkiy.

On May 14, 2018 the Federal Law No. 325-FZ dated November 14, 2017 “On amendment to articles 19 and 23 of the Federal Law „On Currency Regulation and Currency Control“ and to the Administrative Offences Code of the Russian Federation» (“the Law”) came into force.
