On April 24, 2026, the First All-Russian Conference of Young Specialists "LAW_EXPO" was held at St. Petersburg State University. The event brought together scholars, leading expert practitioners, and early-career researchers for a comprehensive analysis of key issues in information law.
Alina Smakova, an associate in the Data Protection and Technology practice at Lidings, took part in the conference.
She delivered a presentation titled "Experimental Legal Regimes: How to Tame the 'Dragon' and Avoid Becoming a Golden Target," with a special focus on the role of experimental legal regimes. Using the example of healthcare, she demonstrated their effectiveness in removing barriers to working with anonymized data. The discussion concluded that legal tools must adapt to the digital landscape to enhance business efficiency while unconditionally protecting citizens' rights.
As part of the event, a mock data protection trial was also held, in which Alina served as an arbitrator.
