Russian Antitrust in the Digital Era: Lidings Supports the Key Antitrust Forum of the Year

On May 26, Moscow will host the XVII Antitrust Forum — the flagship event in Russian competition law. The forum is traditionally held with the support of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS Russia) and the Association of Antimonopoly Experts (AAE). This year’s main theme is competition in the digital economy.

Lidings is an official partner of the forum and is organising a special session: “Pharmaceuticals & Antitrust: The Fight for Fair Competition Amid Economic Challenges.”

The session will be moderated by Natalya Thotahewage, Counsel at Lidings, Head of the Life Sciences Industry Practice, and Co-Chair of the AAE Committee for Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Markets.

Participants — including representatives of FAS Russia, leading law firm practitioners, and top managers of Russian and international pharmaceutical companies — will discuss pressing practical issues: how to protect IP when launching generics, which distributor selection criteria are truly economically justified, how to prove monopolistically high prices, new risks in government contract performance, and the challenges of procuring drugs by trade name based on medical committee or court decisions when fully interchangeable generics exist.

During the session, Alexander Popelyuk, Partner, Head of the Dispute Resolution Practice at Lidings, will present on: “Challenges in the Procurement of Medicinal Products by Trade Name Based on Medical Committee Decisions and Court Rulings in the Presence of Fully Interchangeable Generics.”
