Lidings Special Seminar – New Legal Instruments for Companies to Raise Efficiency

Lidings has conducted its annual legal seminar, being the first one from a series of such educational events organized for the firm’s clients and partners during the year. The meeting devoted to the New Legal Instruments for Companies to Raise Efficiency took place on the 30th of June in the Moscow’s central Marriott Grand hotel.

Lidings’ client-oriented events, organized in the form of an open dialogue between the firm’s experts and invited guests - representatives of the leading Russian and international companies, allow all participants to share experience, discuss the latest legislative initiatives and relevant regulatory issues in a relaxed friendly atmosphere.

During these meetings, the firm’s experts analyze a number of the most recent major innovations in the Russian law from the standpoint of their practical implementation and offer participants their recommendations. Thus, the following main topics were featured:

  1. New rules of applying to court – important changes in Russian Arbitration law
  2. New rules of applying to Federal Antimonopoly Service -  working on the «fourth set of antitrust measures»
  3. Latest tendencies in intellectual property protection

The outlined topics were covered by Lidings’ dispute resolution, corporate and M&A and intellectual property practice lawyers.

Firm’s dispute resolution practice counsel Petr Nikitenko spoke on what has changed with the adoption of amendments in Russian Arbitration law advising the respectful audience on how to apply to court in compliance with the new laws and new options for businesses to succeed in disputes with the state authorities.

Partner and head of the Lidings’ corporate and M&A practice Sergey Patrakeev has discussed what has changed with adoption of a massive set of amendments to the antimonopoly legislation of the Russian Federation which is also unofficially referred to as the «fourth set of antitrust measures».

In his speech he particularly elaborated on unfair competition issues.

The firm’s intellectual property practice senior associate Boris Malakhov talked about current parallel import issues, tendency of differentiation of  strong and weak tread mark signs, as well as on domain disputes and violation of intellectual property rights on the Internet.
