Lidings’ Counsel Speaks at Shanghai Student Week in Lomonosov Moscow State University

Lidings' Counsel Vadim Konyushkevich took part in the Shanghai Student Week running from 3-5 March at Lomonosov Moscow State University (LMSU) under umbrella of the Young Council of Shanghai Organizations Cooperation (SOC). Organizational support is provided by LMSU Shuvalov Club, an international youth group, and Russia-China Law Society established at the university’s law faculty, inter alia with Vadim being a member of Executive Board.

The event’s well scheduled three day program aimed to bringing together law students, postgraduates and alumni from SOC countries, as well as prominent Russian and international experts to share professional and cross-cultural experience anticipates various scientific and recreational sections.

Thus, the first day featured a special conference devoted to different activities of SOC and its role in the world arena, including aspects of its international legal framework. Vadim Konyushkevich having a great experience in providing legal advice to international companies in Russia, including SOC countries moderated a session covering legal issues. Aside from his moderator’s role Vadim has also made a special presentation on the specifics of running international investment projects in SOC countries and highlighted important problems related to direct investments in those jurisdictions.

“It gives me pleasure to note a vivid interest of the international student’s society and young specialists and their eagerness to be aware of and research in greater detail the peculiarities of the legal regulation aspects when it comes to cooperation between SOC countries. Given the recent microeconomic tendencies, the direct investments’ flow from western companies is rearranging towards East and Asia instead of Russia. That is why development and unification of the legal framework regulating cooperation between SOC countries is particularly crucial both on the interstate two-way level and national level as well. Ever more so it was encouraging to hear the same ideas from a vast majority of conference’s participants”, - Vadim comments.
