Highlights of the Seminar for Young Dispute Resolution Practitioners: Resolving Small Claims Without Big Problems

Under the umbrella of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution Young and International (ICDR Y&I), a special division of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), with support of the Lidings law firm, a seminar for young legal practitioners interested in international arbitration and dispute resolution took place in Moscow on September 17th 2015.

At the very start of the new business season the leading Russian and international arbitration specialists once again gathered together in the Russian capital on the grounds of traditional ICDR Y&I fall event, one of the group’s annual meetings hosted in major world’s capitals throughout the year, to discuss currently important international arbitration issues and alternative dispute resolution tactics.

This year’s seminar took place at one of the country’s leading universities, National Research University Higher School of Economics, which law faculty’s graduates are highly sought-for by major international businesses and law firms as excellent dispute resolution specialists.

Seminar was dedicated to expedited procedures in international arbitration and litigation. During an open format interactive discussion seasoned world-class lawyers shared with younger colleagues, effective tactics of resolving small claims without big problems that could be a quite challenging task.

Head of dispute resolution practice at Lidings, Andrey Zelenin, prominent Russian expert in the field of international arbitration with a wide experience in conducting trials in Russian and international arbitration institutions, member of the ICDR Y&I Global Advisory Board, acted as a moderator of the seminar.

ICDR Y&I is the networking group affiliated with the ICDR for those interested in international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution under the age of 40. Its primary goal is to provide opportunities for younger participants in the field of international arbitration and ADR to meet, exchange ideas and learn from peers and more senior practitioners. The group has hosted (or co-hosted) events in more than 30 cities in Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia.

The seminar in Moscow was traditionally hosted on the eve of the American Bar Association’s international dispute resolution conference that annually takes place in the capital in mid-September also with Lidings support. This year’s conference took place on the 18th of September in Ritz-Carlton hotel.
