Lidings' Partner Stepan Guzey Speaks at Vedomosti Conference

Partner of the dispute resolution practice at Lidings Stepan Guzey will speak at the conference dedicated to the bankruptcy issues in Russia organized by one of the country’s leading business newspapers Vedomosti.

The event entitled Bankruptcy in Russia. Practice and Tactics of Bankruptcy Procedures will take place in Moscow on September 15th at Marriott Royal Aurora hotel. As envisioned by the event’ organizing committee leading Russian bankruptcy experts in a format of an interactive discussion will analyze landmark recent bankruptcies and current insolvency litigation court practice. Based on their own experience speakers will share with the event’s participants the most effective legal tactics used in complicatedly structured bankruptcies and give their views on the further development of the legislation and bankruptcy tools that became available after introduction of the relevant amendments to the Civil Code of the Russian Federation.

Mr. Guzey is a highly qualified litigator who’s expertise within Lidings dispute resolution practice focuses on bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings, as well as on advising clients on corporate conflicts, prevention and business restructuring, will present a practical case study based on the firm’s relevant experience in the bankruptcy case involving state bank of Ireland IBRC (more information on the case is available here). During his presentation Stepan will also highlight such important issues as cross-border bankruptcy and recognition of court rulings and administrative acts in any bankruptcy procedure.

«Since transnational corporations and large concerns operate in multiple jurisdictions, cross-border regulation of bankruptcy procedures and exposure of means of interaction can appear to be an effective mechanism in protecting creditors’ rights and, at the same time, become a serious obstacle to the debtor attempting to conceal its assets abroad», - Stepan comments.
