Lidings Experts Discuss Dispute Resolution Practice Issues in Russia with Chinese Colleagues

Lidings’ dispute resolution practice Partners Andrey Zelenin and Stepan Guzey conducted a meeting with representatives of the Political and Legal Issues Committee of China arrived to Moscow last week of July to discuss the recent trends of the Russian dispute resolution system and share expertise on the new ways of effective securement of lawyers, investigating officers and judges’ work.

The meeting was organized under the patronage of the Russian Arbitration Association (RAA) jointly with the Asia and Pacific Collaboration Center on July 30th. The event’s participants were hosted in the Moscow office of the Baker & McKenzie international law firm with one of its partners chairing RAA. During its visit Chinese delegation aimed to learn Associations’ objectives, and generally find out more about arbitration system and particularly international commercial arbitration in Russia to development of which RAA ultimately contributes, as well as sharing expertise and discussing collaboration strategies.

Lidings’ dispute resolution practice Partner Stepan Guzey being a member of the RAA’s  Nominating Committee, a counseling body established to carry out the functions of RAA in assisting in the composition of the arbitral tribunal, heading together with Andrey Zelenin the firm’s special practice group of lawyers specializing on advising companies of the Asia-Pacific region made a presentation on the legislative reform currently taking place in arbitration system in Russia discussing with local and Chinese colleagues collaboration principals of non-governmental organizations and professional lawyers with state authorities on the issues of arbitration development in Russia.
